From Startup to Scale-Up: How Le Perv Landscape Used Crew Control as a Springboard to Success

Like many small businesses with big aspirations, San Diego-based Le Perv Landscape, led by owner Clarke Ramsey since 1990, wanted to streamline operations and position themselves for growth. While Aspire would become a long-term solution, Crew Control provided the perfect starting point, helping them more than double in size in just a few years.

The Power of Simplicity: How Crew Control Delivered Immediate Results

Before Crew Control, Le Perv Landscape managed their operations with spreadsheets, paper, and manual processes.

“It was all printing out stuff and paperwork,” Ramsey says. “We would take pictures of construction or maintenance jobs, print them, write on them, staple them together, and hand them to the crew. After they made notes and gave them back, we would scan them into the computer and throw the paper away.”

The process was time-consuming and inefficient.

That all changed when Le Perv Landscape discovered Crew Control. “I took a look at Crew Control, and I’m like, ‘Oh, this will be kind of useful,’” Ramsey said. “And it was amazing.”

With Crew Control, Ramsey quickly realized how much easier managing his operations could be. “Crew Control gave me a lot of the electronic benefits,” he says, referring to the way it automated processes and digitized workflows.

One of his favorite features was the flexible scheduling board, critical for landscapers who deal with rain delays and frequent reschedules. “It was great when I got that first scheduling board,” he says. “I could slide jobs around, move things, schedule them. It just made it so much better, so much more organized for running everything.”

This immediate impact made Crew Control an indispensable tool for Le Perv Landscape as they continued to grow.

Crew Control: The "Springboard" for Growth

As Le Perv’s operations expanded, Crew Control provided the infrastructure needed to manage their increasing workload.

“Crew Control is a great springboard because it was simple and quick to learn and implement,” Ramsey says.

Crew Control helped the business scale without overwhelming them.

“We were Crew Control’s biggest client at the time we signed up,” Ramsey says. “But we didn’t realize how much it could help us until we started using it.”

Metrics improved quickly with Crew Control, and the business saw steady growth.

“We started around $250,000, and now we’re doing over $3 million,” Ramsey says.

Crew Control became a reliable tool that allowed Le Perv Landscape to manage their growing fleet and team efficiently, while keeping things simple.

Transitioning to Aspire: How Crew Control Prepared Le Perv for the Next Level

After growing significantly with Crew Control, Le Perv Landscape was ready for a more robust software solution.

“When we got with Aspire, we were already doing probably $2 million,” Ramsey says. As they increased their number of crews and handled more complex schedules, Ramsey was ready for Aspire’s more advanced features for larger companies.

Without Crew Control, the transition to Aspire may not have happened.

“Crew Control made me more aware of how much I wanted Aspire,” Ramsey says. “I don’t think I would have signed up for Aspire without going through Crew Control first.”

Aspire offered more powerful features for larger businesses, which became necessary as Le Perv’s operational complexity increased.

“Aspire is just too much if you’re a smaller company,” Ramsey says. “A lot of its features are geared toward even larger companies.”

Thanks to the growth Ramsey attributed to Crew Control, Le Perv Landscape was prepared to make that leap to Aspire.

The Right Starting Point for Small Businesses

Le Perv Landscape’s journey is a testament to how Crew Control can help small businesses scale effectively before making the transition to a more complex platform like Aspire.

“Crew Control is just so easy,” Ramsey says.

For companies that are still small but have big ambitions, Ramsey says, Crew Control is the ideal solution.

Ramsey’s suggestion for companies that are ambitious but still too small to get the benefit from Aspire? “Use Crew Control for a year, get used to it, see what it can do for you and build your business in the meantime, then move up to Aspire.

“You don’t need to invest in Aspire at your current size. Crew Control will serve your needs.”

A Story of Growth and Partnership

Le Perv Landscape’s story highlights how Aspire, as a company, is committed to helping businesses grow at every stage. Whether starting with Crew Control or eventually transitioning to Aspire, the software provides the tools small businesses need to scale.

“Crew Control was the springboard,” Ramsay says, “and Aspire was the next step. It has been a great partnership.”

Le Perv Landscape’s success showcases how the right tools, used at the right time, can make all the difference in a company’s growth journey.
