YardApes is a full-service design, construction and maintenance company serving loyal clients since 1990. The award-winning firm is known for magazine-worthy outdoor living spaces, water features and fire pits. The company also has a tipi at its headquarters symbolizing its dedication to connection with nature.
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Greg applied his 15 years of landscaping crew and management work (including at YardApes, incidentally) to the Aspire team when he joined in 2016. His industry expertise helps Aspire clients of all technical experience levels effectively use the system.
When a large company change takes place, the people who often find themselves doing the hardest work are the employees in the field. Suddenly, often with little input from them, they find themselves having to adapt to entirely new business practices, technologies and requirements.
And while Aspire has plenty of in-person resources to help smooth the changeover for its new partners, recognition of employees who go above and beyond to aid and champion the new changes is critical to the transition’s success. And Aspire Partner YardApes recently unveiled a very special way of showing that appreciation.
Case Study: YardApes
Two years ago, Northern Connecticut’s YardApes chose a software partnership with the Aspire Software Company. While he admitted the technology transition was initially challenging, owner Shayne Newman said that the partnership has allowed his company to better manage job costing, cash flow and its crews in the field.
In fact, because knowledge and expertise in Aspire is now so critical to their daily operations, YardApes introduced Aspire-based categories into its annual Employee Awards Ceremony. The 15-year-old event presents awards and prizes chosen by clients, peers and managers. Categories include the coveted Ape of the Year and division awards such as the golden pruners, golden mower and golden shovel (landscaping, lawn care and construction).
This year, new awards included Data Entry Accuracy and “Issue” Creation, featuring Aspire-logoed gear as the prizes. Newman said that the awards were so popular that he plans to expand the categories next year and provide larger prizes.
As a result of their partnership with Aspire, YardApes has the capability to:
Better manage job costing
Track and monitor field teams with eTime and crew routing
Close gaps in the sales process
Instantly provide more accurate estimates and site evaluations
Recognize employees for assisting with and adapting well to the software deployment
Follow-up training and communications includes continued incentives for employees to use more of the Aspire system and ongoing system training for new members as part of their daily routines. Team members encourage and help train their peers as they learn the system. They also push each other to strive for excellence as the processes become part of a successful internal culture.
Aspire wishes to thank Shayne Newman, Greg Kaiser, Jason von Reyn, Giles Vaughan and the entire YardApes team for their hard work and dedication to constant improvement within their company.
